A vintage Louis de Poortere Kandahar collection wool rug in a classic Persian/Oriental all-over floral and scrolling vine design. Louis de Poortere is a well-regarded Belgian rug manufacturer known for their traditional-style wool rugs, and the Kandahar collection is one of their signature ranges. The rug features a densely woven cut wool pile on a deep crimson/burgundy red ground, with the field filled with interlocking floral sprays, palmettes, and arabesques. The border system comprises a main floral cartouche border on an ivory/cream ground, flanked by narrow sage green guard borders with a small geometric chevron repeat. Cream/ivory knotted fringe tassels finish both short ends.
