A RM RM700-A 17-inch CRT monitor in beige, from the early 2000s. RM (Research Machines) was a well-known British educational computing brand, and their monitors were widely used in schools and offices across the UK. This model is increasingly sought after by retro PC enthusiasts and collectors of early 2000s computing hardware.
What's included:
- RM RM700-A CRT monitor (screen unit only)
- Display cable (untested)
- No power cable included — you will need to source your own
- Stand is missing — monitor head only
Condition notes:
- Pre-owned and used — shows signs of age consistent with a monitor of this era
- Plastics have yellowed with age, as is typical for beige CRT monitors from this period
- Scuff marks present to the housing exterior
- Scratches visible on the screen
- Stand is missing — you will need to source a replacement or mount accordingly
- Exterior has been cleaned; interior has not been touched
- A persistent clicking noise can be heard on power-up — likely due to dust in the vents after a long period of storage; not very loud
- Screen is power tested only — display cable is untested
Screen size note:
The RM700-A uses a 17-inch CRT tube (approximately 16 inches visible screen area). CRT sizes were measured diagonally across the full tube including the section inside the casing — this was standard practice for all monitor manufacturers of the era.
About RM monitors:
Research Machines (RM) was a pioneering British educational technology company whose computers and monitors were a staple of UK schools throughout the 1990s and 2000s. RM hardware is now a nostalgic collectible for those who grew up with it, and CRT monitors in general are prized by retro gaming enthusiasts for their authentic scanline display and low input lag.
Ideal for retro PC builds, vintage gaming setups, wall-mounting projects, collectors, or as a nostalgic display piece. Please note the stand is not included.
