A pre-owned Vernon Model 18/28 Double 8 (Regular 8mm) cine camera, made in Japan, dating from the 1960s. A characterful pistol-grip cine camera with a fast 13mm f/1.8 Vernon-branded lens and a two-speed (18fps / 28fps) filming mechanism — the model name 18/28 refers directly to these two frame rates. A great display piece or restoration project for vintage cine camera collectors and film enthusiasts.

About Double 8 / Regular 8mm film: Double 8 (also known as Regular 8 or Standard 8) was the dominant home movie format of the late 1950s and 1960s, before Super 8 was introduced by Kodak in 1965. It uses standard 16mm film stock loaded into the camera, which is run through twice — once on each edge — and then split down the middle after processing to produce an 8mm film strip. Double 8 film is still available from specialist suppliers, making these cameras usable for analogue film enthusiasts today.

Ideal for:

  • Vintage cine camera collectors
  • Analogue / film photography enthusiasts
  • Display or prop use
  • Restoration project
  • 1960s retro home decor
